Dee is feeling better. that really sounds nice, doesn't it, The re-hab at the hospital is set up very good, he uses three machines for as long as he can handle it, with nurses standing close by with blood pressure machines to check on the heart. we've also seen an internist and a cardiologist, very nice who got us in fast. So Dee now feels like someone is taking care of him besides his wife, who really didn't know what she was doing there in LaGrande.

We also have the benefit of staying with Karen and kids, which we really appreciate. I've only been lost twice here in town, but we're doing better with a map. Dee's back pain limits the exercise so he works out at his own pace, very nice. Not sure how long we'll stay, but for now, all is well. .

REPORT FROM IDAHO FALLS

Things are going good here in Idaho, except for the weather. Last night Karen and I went to enrichment at the church and the wind was WILD and freezing cold. but the program was worth it, telling us how to use coupons in shopping to save money.

Personally I don't much use coupons. At K-Mart this week I (and 3 other women) waited 20 minutes while the clerk checked out a lady with a huge stack of coupons.
she had to be oblivious of us in line, which is necessary if you trade in coupons. we also had to have patience, which I did while reading one of those magazines at the check-out counter.

We learned the best site for saving money is www.pinchingyourpennies.com which has a FREE list of the best deals in local grocery store ads.

Besides the coupon class, we had a demonstration of yummy recipes to make. we also got to sample one called TACO salad, which I enclose here

Brown hamburger about 1 lb.
chopped head of lettuce
grated cheese
avacado diced
1 can kidney beans drained
sliced olives
crushed corn chips
2 or 3 chopped tomatoes
1/2 onion chopped
Catalina dressing enough to cover

This is a "put as much as you like" type of salad.Needs to sit for a couple of hours.

I always expect taco salad to be spicy, but not this one. Give it a try. .

AND GOD SAID "NO"

I asked God to take away my pride, and God said, "No" He said it was not for Him to take away but for me to to give up.
I asked God to grant me patience, and God said, "No"
...He said that patience is a by-product of tribulation, it isn't granted, it's earned
I asked God to give me happiness, and God said, "No"
He said he gives blessings, happiness is up to me.
I asked God to spare me pain, and God said, "No"
He said suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to him..
I asked God to make my spirit grow, and God said, "No"
He said I must grow on my own, but He will prune me to make me fruitful.
I asked God if He loved me, and God said, "Yes"
He gave me his only son, who died for me, and I will be in heaven someday because I believe.
I asked God to help me love others, as much as He loves me.
And God said, "Ah, finally you have the idea"

MAN'S MIND, ONCE STRETCHED BY A NEW IDEA
NEVER REGAINS ITS
ORIGINAL DIMENSION

BE KINDER THAN NECESSARY
FOR EVERYONE
IS FIGHTING SOME KIND OF BATTLE

BIG MOVE!

Since Dee wasn't getting well fast enough, we loaded him up and took us all to Idaho Falls to stay with Karen for a few weeks. We got him into see a really good internistthat Dee liked, and he referred us to the hospital re-hab starting on Monday.

So it looks like we'll be staying for a few weeks, to get exercise and diet regulated. It is a relief, especially for me, we were both getting stressed with so little progress the past two weeks. He's lost some weight, but the Doctor said not to worry, things will change soon.

A side benefit, we have lots of grand and great grandkids nearby to get better acquainted with.

I have found a really great music CD for the computer. It is lots of songs by Sally DeFord, mostly things she wrote, some primary. Go to her web site and chec k it out. I think it was 12.95, and well worth it. She has won 1st place in RS music contest. And she doesn't charge for her music, all free.

THE SECRET IS BACK!

Louisville, KY news item

Col. Sander's handwritten recipe for fried chicken was back in its Kentucky home Tuesday after five months in hiding while KFC upgraded security around its top corporate secret. Nothing went afoul when the recipe was returned from an undisclosed location to KFC's headquarters late Monday in a lockbox handcuffed to the wrist of a security consultant.

KFC President Roger Eaton was visibly relieved when the door to a new electronic safe was shut with the single sheet of yellowing paper stashed inside. "Mission accomplished," he said. "It was very nerve wracking" he said later of the recipe's hiatus from a vault where it had been kept for decades.

Thank heavens, we've all been so worried!

LOVE OF DOLLS

Just to prove to you that dolls run in the family I found this long ago (40 years)photo of daughters Elaine and Ruth with dolls at Christmas

The joy still remains in Grandmas as well as kids

Too Too cute!

Hi, just want to let everyone know that today things are going really good here in eastern Oregon. Dee is feeling good, and we've made a list of things to do to keep busy every day, So...today we're off to the Library to browse. Although I don't usually like library books, because they frown on underlining with a red pencil. But we'll go check it out. Have a nice day!

IT MAY TAKE THE LORD YEARS
TO PREPARE ANOTHER
TO DO WHAT
YOU
HAVE ALREADY BEEN
PREPARED
TO DO

This is the newest little member of our family. She is my great grand daughter Dreyken Jade, Isn't she precious?

She is the 3rd child of Courtney & Dan Beck. Don't you just want to squeeze her? Co cute.

I suppose you think I'm going to add

If you want to see a really good recipe for sugar cookies

DOLLS! RILEY and SHIRLEY TEMPLE!

Just wanted you to see another photo of a cute great-grand daughter and her Mom Jana.

You may remember back in the past days I told you about selling dolls on E-Bay. Well, I've almost retired from that, so have decided to let grand-kids who come visit pick out one to keep. Markell came with her Dad(you're never too old for dolls) over New Year's week-end, and she chose the Shirley Temple doll

I also sent a couple home to Idaho Falls for Kaydra and Kalli, and if anyone else in the family wants one, you have to come pick it out yourself!

Things have been a bit hectic around here, trying to get Grandpa Dee well, but we're back on the mend again so I'll try and post more blogs.

He's supposed to be doing a lot of walking, but we still have about 2 feet of dirty messy snow all over, and it's cold, so our best bet is Wal-Mart or Grocery Outlet, but when we walk there, we always end up spending a lot and buying things we don't really need.

Here's a couple of lines about WORRY, which we all do a lot of. (I didn't write it, just like it)

Worry is experiencing stress over something that hasn't happened yet. When you worry, your body reacts to your anticipation of danger or catastrophe as though it already occured. Consider the stress children go through when they anticipate getting a shot from the doctor. Although nothing has hurt them physically, they may become hysterical and experience tremendous stress from what they are afraid will happen. You do the same thing when you worry.

You recall those things that have hurt you in the past, you recall the danger signals that foretold the pain, and you draw conclusions that you may be hurt again. Then you react to the fear of what may happen again.

MOST OF WHAT WE WORRY ABOUT NEVER HAPPENS!

DON'T WORRY! BE HAPPY!
