This is photo of Jessica from past years.  I just love to see the joy on her face.
Being young is such a great time,  we oldsters should remember how it felt

THE SAD SANTA

Once upon a time there was a man called Santa Clause
who didn't want to come again this year,  he said,
"Because the folks on earth have all forgotten why we celebrate this night
They don't remember angels who beheld the shining light there in the sky !

I wonder why the people only seem to be
interested in themselves and what they'll get this year from me

Once upon a time it was quite fun for me to come and being a gift
just ONE small gift to each and every one
but
something happened, it went wrong, somehow the gifts began to grow
and pretty soon they wanted some from everyone they know
and they put Santa in the shopping mall and Santa in the street
and Christmas presents everywhere!
Everyone I meet thinks I'm the reason for the season!

I DIDN'T WANT TO BE THE STAR!
I wanted people to remember shepherds from afar who had followed the light
all shiny and bright
to where the Baby Christ child lay
I wanted the people to think about that blessed wonderful day

when the spirit stayed and the angels played such music as never had been heard
I try to tell the people  and they listen but don't hear a word!

and I am really tired of giving gifts!
because they're so expensive
besides it's gotten out of hand

CHRISTMAS IS TOO EXTENSIVE!

It lasts from May until December and I never know what to do
when stores put up their Christmas lights
before Halloween is through"

Oh, what to do!  Oh what to do!
poor Santa felt so sad inside he sat down on the sofa
bowed his head and simply cried!

Now
Mrs. Santa heard him, she said, "I know what to do
I think I'll have a Christmas party that will be for you!"
and so she did, and every kid around brought gifts from off their shelves
and gave them all to Santa.  They forgot about themselves and started sharing
really caring instead of saying

WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?

and Santa started getting happy!
"Hooray!  the people see it's not the getting of more things
that brings us joy on Christmas night
but the feeling of the spirit
in the manger filled with light

So Santa said,  "There's room for both of us!  and so I guess I'll stay
but ony if people remember

It's the love we give away

and not the gifts we get that makes us feel that star-filled holy night
that the shepherds felt by the manger
and inside  we'll feel just right!"

I just had to add a couple more photos of halloween.  This is Karen all ready for the office party.  I wonder if she won for best costume.  Very cute

and here are the King kids,  grandchildren of my sister Beth in Utah.

Now it's past and onward to November.  Yesterday Dee went to the dentist and got two crowns,  and dodged a root canal.  and it didn't even hurt.  A new dentist in Rigby, 10 miles down the road,  and we loved him. (can't always say that for a dentist)

Almost Halloween and  I'm adding some cute photos I've either received
or stolen

This is Jake and Jana's two girls,  Riley and Sage,  all decked out as strawberry Shortcake and her strawberry.  How cute is this.

and here we have Scott's two, out in the pumpkin patch   Enoch  and  Natalie
                                                                I WANT THIS ONE

Karen and I at the Tabernacle Choir and orchestra concert in Rexburg
She said if her arms had been longer,  the picture would have been better
I like it just like it is,  proving we were there

It was amazing to see and hear them live.  The BYU-I center holds 15,000 and I'd guess there were more than 10,000 there.  The songs were mostly broadway musicals, plus a few religious.
It was also fun to just get out of the house at night with Karen

David has spent a lot of time on the inside of the garage.  He put up sheet-rock,  taped  and all the rest.  good worker

Here   he is rolling on the primer coat

This  night he'd had an earache for three days,  but wanted to get the primer on.  Says work is good to forget the pain.

A salute to our 59th wedding anniversary September 16th 2012
Random shots through the years

and  love still grows more every day
Happy anniversary Dee

The picture of our house  below was taken when  we first moved in,  the grass was in sad dying shape from no water all summer.   So, with automatic sprinklers, we started pouring on the water.  Within a month we were the envy of the whole neighborhood,  lush and green.  Then we got our water bill.

What?  a water bill?  We never got a water bill in Oregon.  Of course not,  we had a well and water was free.  even the lady at the office was amazed it was so high....$160.00!   Much wiser now,  we shut the water down to once every few days,  and I'm hoping our next bill will be a lot lower.

Water from a well.   What a blessing that we didn't even appreciate.  Live and learn.  (But we still have the greenest grass on the block)

Our new house in Ucon.  3803  E. 108 N.  Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401
We still have a lot of boxes to unpack  (someday)   No big hurry .  Right now I'm working on books to get the library set up
We bought new couches for the living room.  First new furniture in about 20 years.  as you can see,  they tilt back.   Comfy.
The end of a long,  long day .  Glad to be home

Ruth  and Danny's kids who came over Labor day.  Charlotte and hubby Robert,  Pearl, and Jason
The Rudds borrowed a boat and spent a fun week on the water.   Elaine,  Curt and Krista
This is the tool shed David built in the yard   to hold tools  (what else?)

I love  this shot of Enoch,,  Scott's little boy ,  deep in contemplation
And this of course is my handsome hubby,  Dee.
The picture of health

A couple of years ago Dee and I wandered through an old old cemetery near our house in LaGrande
I like the thought of life flowers among the dead
Life goes on

First day of kindergarten  for Dasche

(if he only knew how many years he has ahead)

but Mom will have some free hours

This is a great invention!  Every grandparent needs one at reading time

This has a cute story behind it.  Twins,  boy and girl, were placed
in separate incubators.  The girl baby was failing. A nurse
put them both in the same bed,  and the boy put his arm around his
sister.  Her heart beat became regular,  and she thrived from
then on.   Just goes to show you how much we need our
brothers  and sisters

Here (finally)  is a photo of the latest temple wedding in the family.
Sarah Rose and Jeff Rosendahl.
July 27, 2012
now living in sunny warm Arizona
Congratulations

We are really happy here in Idaho.  One more week of infusion of the antibiotic and the daily trek to the hospital.  Then we will be off to Salt Lake so Dee can see the VA doctor.  they have clinics here (full)  Pocatello (full) Salt Lake (full)  and finally we are going to West Valley clinic.  Plan to spend the night with Beth.  It will be fun to get out of town,  it's in the high 90s and really in the middle of summer.

We went to ward picnic on Saturday and church on Sunday for the first time,  and got acquainted.  A nice small ward,  lots of good friendly people.  We're glad we are here.

Can  you believe these are my
beautiful grand-daughters?
Love them all

One more beautiful baby!  This is three month old Natalie,  daughter of Scott , grand-daughter of Mark.    How can babies today ALL be so cute? They live in Florida,  too far away
