A few more photos and the rest of the story... Upon arriving home and scaling the steep stairs to her bedroom a few times, mom's ankle pain got worse. Now that they were safely away from last years memories of the hospital in Idaho Falls, Dad insisted on an x-ray on the sore ankle, which revealed no injury to the ankle at all - instead , it showed a hair line fracture up the length of the tibia ( the small leg bone). Mom was sworn to no weight bearing for six weeks and a trip to see an orthopedist in a few days. So, David moved a twin bed from the basement into the dinning room, put the cell phone in Mom's hand, and there she sits! The second Dr. put her into a walking cast, but again she was told to just stay off of it.

Karen reporting: Georganna is currently off of her feet - literally - and not near a computer for updates so she asked me to post a few of the pictures I have from their summer travels.

During the last two weeks of August, Dee and Georganna headed form LaGrande on a road trip. They stopped at Brian and Bobbies house in Nampa. Then moved on to Layton to the wedding of Lisa King Kirk. They saw lots of relatives on the May side, but unfortunately, I don't have a copy of those photos. Following three nights in Layton, they traveled up to Park City to see Elaine and Curt. Sorry, I have no photos of that either - I'm not sure any were taken. Then they decided to drive home through Idaho Falls. On the first day here, mom stumbled in my garden and sprained her ankle. Dad wrapped it up good and they extended their stay to almost a week until it was feeling good enough for her to help Dad with the drive home. While here, we went to Mark and Jackies home for a group dinner, saw the Hubble telescope exhibit at the Idaho Falls visitors center, traveled up to Rexburg to see the beautiful BYU-Idaho gardens and Rexburg temple. Went out to eat a few times, and did a lot of hanging around, resting up and visiting. Here are the highlighted photos.

I have to smile at everyone

my smile just might be

the only one they see all day

their happiness depends on me

*

It seems the world is too pre-occupied to smile,

or even look you in the eye. In fact, most

act like I'm invisible.

So I just go around smiling at them

or saying hello,

especially little old ladies sitting on the bench

in front of Safeway

waiting for a ride to pick them and the groceries up.

They always smile back

and we both feel better

A FUN KID PROJECT

Yesterday being the 2nd Sunday, I was giving the lesson in Relief Society. It was a strange day.. In the first place, I have put on some weight. Week-days are fine, sweats or capris, nothing tight, and I feel good. But Sundays are a different story. I have about two things that fit, and yesterday both of them made me feel fat. So I felt uncomfortable. Plus Dee didn't feel good, so he didn't go, and that always throws me off, we need to be together.

The lesson was pretty basic, on the organization of the Priesthood. And I'd been up early to get it put together on paper, after reading a lot. When I'm teaching R/S I don't spend much time on the Sunday School lesson, so right off I felt unprepared. So by the time R/S started, I could tell I wasn't comfortable.

The opening prayer lady said, "Bless the teacher to have a clear mind" and I thought~~~Oh, please, I need that! Then it was my turn. Not that I did a bad job, but it wasn't good. I couldn't feel the spirit, twice I lost my place, and just shut down, but we managed. Also not much participation. As I sat down, I said to myself, 'That's the worst lesson I've ever given'

Much to my surprise, 5 or 6 sisters said the lesson was great. A couple said, "I have times when I blank out, too, it comes with age" . Now I thought~~~~~they must have heard things differently than I did. But it made me feel better.

As I got to the car, I decided to not be so hard on myself. I gave the best lesson in R/S that day, better than anyone else. And along the way, at home during the week, I had studied a lot of other things. When I get into the scriptures, one thing just leads to another, there is no end to study time. That feels good.

On the way home, I had a flash of inspiration. I should have read Oliver Cowdery's description of when he and Joseph received the Priesthood, found at the end of Joseph's history! I love that.

We listened, we gazed, we admired. 'Twas the voice of an angel from glory .
and we were wrapped in the vision of the Almighty! ......what joy filled
our hearts, and with what surprise we must have bowed when we
received under his hand the Holy Priesthood, as he said,
"Upon you, my fellow servants, in the name of Messiah
I confer this Priesthood and this authority"
That is pure poetry. Look it up, there's much more, all beautiful. In the end, it was a pretty good day~~~~~~strange but good.

A COUPLE OF CUTE PHOTOS

What a beautiful child!
Seems like Heavenly Father just sends
all the cute ones to our family.
Thanks

I guess love is a feeling that you feel
down deep inside
when you see your Dad come home and his arms are open wide
and then he picks you up and hugs you
I'm so glad my Dad loves me
and we will be together always
whether on earth
or eternity

I guess love is a feeling when my Mom rubs oil on me
after I have had a bath and she sings soft
I see that she is happy
'cause she smiles a lot
and that makes me feel good
I think I'm going to like this place
'tho I never thought I would
when I was in that tiny dark-filled room!

I had to wait so long!
'til heaven opened up the door
and I could hear earth's song
This is where I belong

We were out for a drive, pulled off the road
to change drivers
and there hidden behind some trees was this
gorgeous meadow of yellow flowers.
Luckily we had the camera close by
and here we are!
Back at home, I looked out in the back yard just as
a deer jumped over the fence.
I watched her until she headed for my rhubarb plant,
then I went out and chased her off. Actually I should have done it long ago,
because she has eaten off all the apples in the front
yard tree, along with the leaves and branch tips.
But deer are really fun to watch.
Right in your own back yard
I'm afraid to look in the orchard and see what's missing.

COMPANY STOPS BY
On Friday Allen and Georgie met us for lunch.
They were on the way home from a funeral in Hood River area.
Been a long time since we've spent time with them,
since they live in far away Utah
where we seldom go.
In fact lately we seldom get far from home.
This is a shot of Dee and Allen, who are both very thin
compared to past years. Handsome and healthy!

We had lunch at THE SMOKEHOUSE
our favorite spot because they have a back room
where you can hear yourself talk.
Other than that,
things are pretty quiet here,
orchard growing,
the cherry tree is almost ripe,
and we're all feeling well.

A nice day.
Even the weather was good,
but for this coming Sunday we are heading into
98! Whew!
Stay in the house
except for church

We had a really nice surprise last Saturday.
My cousin, Winnafred May Smith
who I hadn't seen since high school in 1953
came to Baker for her class reunion
with her husband Austin.
We met them at Anthony Lake, and spent a pleasant two hours
catching up on the "olden" days. Her dad is Uncle Sterling,
my Dad's brother.

Dee says we look a lot alike. We used to
play violin together, walking to the music school
every day after school.
It's sad how out of touch we get with old friends
and cousins. A highlite was looking at Daddy's old
family photo book.

Good times.

NIENIE DIALOGUE.BLOGSPOT.COM
I may have told you this before, but just a reminder. The first thing I look at every day is
this blog. Her name is Stephanie Nielsen (therefore the name of the blog)
She was in a plane crash a couple of years ago and suffered massive burns.
Her sister kept the blog open during her recovery days in Arizona, until she could take over again.
They are LDS , living in Provo. I can't tell you how they make me count my blessings every morning. It is fascinating to read.

So if you have some free time (make some free time) follow their story.
The interesting thing is her parents, Bro. and Sister Clark just left to be the mission president
in St. Louis, Missouri, where my grandson, Elder Jason Aldridge is serving.

Check it out.
